Discover the Art of Handmade Ceramics at Lunio by Sofie
Welcome to Lunio by Sofie, a space where I highlight the beauty of fine ceramics. As an emerging ceramic artist, I’m passionate about creating unique, handcrafted pieces that are influenced by my experiences with Australian, Japanese and Korean pottery. My work is deeply influenced by ancient techniques, especially those used in Anagama and Noborigama kilns.
The historic nature of wood kilns allow me to create functional handcrafted ceramic mugs and vases, along with a variety of other homewares. Each with unique surface effects that vary from subtle flashes to dramatic colour shifts and glaze variations. The unpredictable beauty of woodfiring makes each piece truly one of a kind.
Unique Woodfired Commissions and Japan Pottery Tours
In addition to the curated collection available in my online store, I welcome commissions for custom work. Whether you’re looking for an individual piece or a larger set of mugs, cups, bowls, platters, vases, or plates.I can work with you to create something special that reflects your vision.
My wheel-thrown pottery is perfect for anyone looking to add a unique, artisanal touch to their home decor.
While I don’t offer regular classes at my studio, I do lead immersive workshops and exclusive pottery tours to Japan. These experiences are designed for those who share my love for ceramics and wish to explore the rich history and techniques behind Japanese ceramics firsthand.
My workshops provide a unique, hands-on opportunity to witness the magic of traditional kilns and learn about the delicate balance of heat, ash, and flame that defines each piece.
My passion is to share the joy and artistry of ceramics through my exclusive workshops and handcrafted pieces. I hope you’ll find something special that speaks to you.
